Information For Conference Speakers
The Prisons to Partnerships National Virtual Conference is scheduled for Saturday, November 23, 2024, from 10am-6pm Mountain time. This event is being produced by a group of concerned citizens committed to positively impacting the lives of incarcerated people, formerly incarcerated people, and the people who serve and support them.
The conference is divided into three themed sessions: The first session will explore what life is like for the people serving time in America’s prisons who are actively addressing their issues and working towards release. The second session will focus on the support needed and available after release. The third session will focus on what might be possible, and how we might address the underlying issues that keep the current system in place.
The conference will highlight innovative initiatives and programs that reduce recidivism, promote social justice, and transform lives. Several formerly incarcerated people will share their lived experience: the issues they addressed while incarcerated, and what programs and support was most helpful in their successful parole and reentry. The closing keynote speaker will touch the hearts and minds of participants and inspire us all to get involved in this important work.
The conference is intended for a wide audience of interested people: the curious, the committed, current and potential volunteers, corrections officers and staff, program leaders, criminal justice academics and students. All are invited to attend.
Each speaker will have an opportunity to share for about 15 minutes with interactive discussion break-out groups scheduled after each of the three themed sessions. Speakers are encouraged to ask for or offer support (e.g. networking with other organizations, publicizing volunteer opportunities, asking for program donations, etc.).
