Our History
In 2019, Neal Abramson published his book You Can Choose Your Life: A Guide to Experiencing More Peace, Freedom, and Happiness Right Now. In it he shares about his own experience of becoming a juvenile delinquent and offers ways to help others recognize their mental roadblocks.
He, along with Karen Johnson (who has a degree in counseling) led a ten-session program based on Neal’s book to support men recently out of prison.
Not long after that, Neal joined the Team, Management, and Leadership Program (part of Landmark Worldwide) and built a team of people, including Karen and others, to explore how they could make a difference for those affected by the U.S. correctional system.
After a fortuitous meeting with Judy Flattery and attending a conference she helped produce, Life Behind Bars: Compassion and Reform (click here to view), the team, now including Judy, decided to create their own conference.
In 2024, Marc Malamud came onboard, and we became a 501.c.3 under the name Prisons to Partnerships.
